Cheer Athlete Code

Pacers cheer athletes agree to learn safely, support the full squad, include others, respect their coaches, and represent the program with a positive attitude.

Cheer athletes are expected to respect and support teammates, listen to coaches, give their best effort, include others, and follow every safety instruction.

Teamwork and effort

  • Be ready to learn, practice, and contribute to the full squad.
  • Encourage teammates and include others.
  • Listen to coaches and accept correction with a growth mindset.
  • Show sportsmanship and a positive attitude at practices, games, travel events, and competitions.

Safety responsibilities

  • Use the techniques and progressions taught by coaches.
  • Never attempt a stunt, tumbling skill, lift, or other activity without coach approval and supervision.
  • Stop immediately when a coach gives a safety instruction.
  • Tell a coach when you are injured, in pain, unusually tired, dizzy, or not feeling well.

Behavior

Athletes must use appropriate language, show respect through words and actions, and care for uniforms, poms, equipment, fields, and facilities. Bullying, exclusion, profanity, disrespect, fighting, and unsportsmanlike conduct are not permitted.

Consequences

Depending on the behavior, consequences may include coaching correction, a warning, reduced participation, removal from a practice or event, suspension, or further Board action. Serious behavior may result in immediate removal.
