Coach with the Pacers

You do not need a perfect résumé to make a difference. Jr Pacers welcomes former athletes, experienced coaches, first-time coaches, and supportive parents who are ready to learn and lead well.

Our coaches teach skills, build confidence, model sportsmanship, and help Delaware kids learn how to be part of a team. Experience is helpful, but character, consistency, and a willingness to follow the program are essential.

Why volunteer as a coach?

Make a real impact

Help young athletes grow in confidence, discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

Build community

Work alongside other local families and become part of a program bigger than one team.

Teach the game

Share what you know—or learn with support—while teaching age-appropriate fundamentals.

Give back

Your time helps keep the program accessible, organized, and focused on the athlete experience.

What we look for

  • A positive, team-first approach.
  • Willingness to learn and follow Jr Pacers and league guidelines.
  • A consistent focus on athlete safety and development.
  • Respect for athletes, families, other coaches, officials, and opponents.
  • Clear, professional communication and dependable attendance.

Every coach is screened

Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Co-Coaches must complete the organization’s screening, safety-training, and approval requirements before they lead or supervise athletes.
