Parents and guardians must encourage effort, support coaches, respect officials, model sportsmanship, and make sure athletes arrive on time and prepared.
Positive support
- Encourage effort, learning, teamwork, resilience, fair play, and fun.
- Support all athletes—not only your own child.
- Respect coaches’ responsibility for instruction, lineups, positions, and team decisions.
- Have athletes at practices and games on time with the required uniform, equipment, water, and paperwork.
- Model calm, respectful behavior before, during, and after activities.
Sideline expectations
Negative comments, sideline coaching, profanity, harassment, arguing with officials, and confrontations with coaches, athletes, volunteers, or other families are not permitted. A parent or spectator may be asked to leave when behavior disrupts the event or creates a safety concern.
Communication and concerns
Do not raise a complaint during a practice or game. Allow an appropriate cool-off period, then contact the coach or program leadership calmly through the proper channel. If the issue is not resolved, it may be brought to the Board.
Public or social-media criticism of athletes, families, officials, coaches, volunteers, or the program is not an acceptable problem-solving channel.
Consequences
Violations may result in a warning, removal from an activity, temporary sideline or event suspension, or further Board action. Serious conduct may result in immediate removal or suspension.
